Bauma 2007: Liebherr presents the world's largest hydrostatic crawler tractor
Drawing on extensive practical experience with the proven PR 752 Litronic push dozer - for many years the only hydrostatically driven dozer in its class - Liebherr is moving its crawler range up a notch with the new PR 764 Litronic.

The new flagship of the Liebherr crawler tractor range works on a revolutionary drive concept: the D 9408 TI-E 310-kW 422-HP Liebherr V8 diesel engine drives the crawler by means of four variable displacement pumps and engines each in a closed circuit. This drive system does not merely deliver maximum pushing and ripping performances in all speed ranges; it also makes the PR 764 Litronic, with its operating weight of up to 52.5 tonnes, the biggest hydrostatically driven crawler in the world.

Irrespective of whether the machine is being used for heavy ripping jobs or to transport material, the optimum drive ratio is always available. Gear changes do not interrupt the power delivery because the diesel engine runs continuously in the optimum revolution range. This reduces fuel consumption, thereby lessening the environmental impact, and also increases the machine's working life.
